Hannah Montana The Movie Soundtrack (2009)

Hannah Montana: The Movie is the soundtrack to the film of the same name, and was released on March 24, 2009 on Walt Disney Records. On the soundtrack, songs are performed by Miley Cyrus (both as Cyrus and Hannah Montana), Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift and Steve Rushton. The song's "Butterfly Fly Away", which is performed by Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus, and "Back to Tennessee", also from Billy Ray Cyrus, appeared on his eleventh studio album, Back to Tennessee.

The album debuted at #2 selling 137,592 copies first week, and after four weeks claimed the #1 spot, selling 133,000 copies.

In the second week of the album's release it sold 87,000 copies which place it at #5 on Billboard 200. By week 3 the album sold 126% more selling 196,000 copies putting it in the #2 position on Billboard 200. By its four week the album sold 133,000 copies and rose to the peak position of #1 on Billboard 200.

The soundtrack became the first 2009 release to top the 1 million mark in sales and has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

The main single released was Miley Cyrus' (credited as herself) "The Climb", which is her first release to country music radio as a solo artist. The song debuted at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in March, and has so far peaked at #4 on the same chart, after its performance on the eighth season of American Idol. The fifth single, "Hoedown Throwdown," (also by Miley as herself) was released on March 10, 2009 as a Radio Disney-exclusive single on their iTunes page and has made it to #18 on The Hot 100. The seventh single, "Crazier," performed by Taylor Swift, charted at #17 on The Hot 100.

The soundtrack has become the third best-selling album in the United States so far in 2009 selling more than 1,338,000+ copies since August 5, and is also the first theatrical movie soundtrack to spend seven weeks in the top two since the Armageddon soundtrack in 1998.
